No dogs encountered, but found lovely fresh bobcat and fox tracks! |

Trail was soft for first two miles and benefited from snowshoes. Postholes were present but easily smoothed over with two sets of snowshoes and temps hovering at the freezing mark. Trench present and in great shape at 3000 feet and above until Coopers Lodge. Snowpack has almost covered the LT/AT sign. The last .2 mile push to the summit is a frightening good time of “how is this possible that I’m staring at a wall of snow and making my own snow ladder to the peak?!” We used snowshoes because the snow was too deep and powdery for crampons to dig into as we ascended. An ice axe would be recommended for next time. Gorgeous summit views! |
