Comments
Comments: Do I dare say this was a piece of cake? We followed the woods road to where the snowmobile track ended, then continued on the woods road leftish. We bypassed the first cairn and continued (left) on the road. Some barebooters walked this route and went left at a fork - don't follow them, go right on the snowshoe tracks. We followed the road to where it went down quite a ways and intersected the bushwhack trail. Here we followed the broken track (rather than our original plan of continuing on the road to the second cairn and bushwhack). The tracks went straight up Dorset; they traversed back and forth up this steep open area. This took us up to the ridge between east peak and the main peak, just a little bit (0.1 mile) left of Dorset summit. Many thanks to whoever broke this route, it cut about 3 miles off our original plan for a 6.5 mile trip. If you need Mendon, now is a good time.
