| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We parked at the end of Tower Road...for a car. If you have a car with more clearance than a VW All Trac then you could drive further up for sure. There seemed to be a couple optional parking areas further up this old logging road that would work. |

So...we were prepared for a full on bushwhack here and it's not. At least not in April 2022.
Beautiful hike through mud, water, ice and snow. True spring hiking! Steep trail for most of the hike.
The trail was clearly marked with blue paint and blue tape. Once we arrived at the T intersection turn right and continue to climb. When you arrive at an intersection where the trail is flat to the left and up to the right, take the right and keep climbing. You'll get to a point where you can tell people took or made some trail to the old tower but we stayed on the more defined trail to where it 'more officially' splits off to the old fire tower at approx 3 miles. At this intersection there's a wooden sign indicating TOWER to the right. It's also marked with the blue paint/tape markings. To the left is to Dorset Peak - the true summit, marked from here with yellow tape. Turn left for Dorset. This is approx .3 miles of relatively flat hiking to the summit. The pitcher is still there but we couldn't get the register out of the canister as it was frozen shut and we didn't want to damage it.
This was #100 for our NEHH...damn sweet celebrating all alone on this quirky, isolated peak.
It was perfection. |
