Date of Hike: Saturday, October 9, 2021
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at the Middlesex Trailhead off of N. Bear Swamp Rd. The overflow lot was totally full by 0930, but there were a couple of empty spaces in the main lot, fortunately. By the time I returned from my hike, both lots were completely full and overflowing, with several cars parked along the road between the lots.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Kudos to whoever re-blazed the Middlesex Trail! The new blazes are awesome!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw several dogs accompanying other hikers on the lower parts of the trail, but am not sure whether a dog could navigate the more technical parts of the Middlesex Trail close to the summit.
Bugs
Bugs: None of any consequence.

Comments
Comments: The summits were socked in at the time I arrived at the trailhead, but were clearing by the time I reached them. It was cold and windy on both Hunger and White Rock. Foliage is still very colorful in the valleys, but is well past peak at the higher elevations.

The only real difficulty on this hike was slipperiness due to water on the rocks. This was mainly a problem on the White Rock Trail (which was very muddy) and on the shaded parts of both the Middlesex and Bob Kemp trails. The rocks were dry enough near the summit of Hunger to not be a serious problem.

All in all, it was a beautiful, if rather cloudy, day to hike.
