Comments
Comments: I broke trail for the entirety of Battell Trail, and then Long Trail north over to Sugarbush South. Between Sugarbush South and North, I encountered 3 backcountry skiers, so the trail was a bit more packed down. On my way back, two sets of bare booting tracks started from Sugarbush South, over Abraham, and continued down the Long Trail past Battell. They postholed all over my tracks, leaving near-continuous 2-3' deep holes that I repeatedly fell into and kept twisting my ankles in. Thankfully, Battell was just my tracks, so I was able to make more speed heading back to the road after that intersection. There were 3' deep drifts on the ridgeline due to the driving wind, and that was as of 4-5pm on Saturday.
