Road to base of Signal, Butterfield, Bushwhacks. logging roads, powerline, Route 302
Got a late start. Did Signal from Gore Road and retraced. Went to about Butterfield parking and angled for the top. Not one cannister but 3. Coming off Butterfield you need to really bare left. Going down takes you into thick steep terrain, the left has a good ramp. Crossed the logging road and went up and over to the right to top of East Knox To my astonishment nice 4 wheeler trail coming in from the other side. Took it to the low point in between and angled for top of Knox. Some cliff bands but easy to avoid and more 4 wheeler sign as I worked up. Apparently from the west side there is a regular 4 wheeler trail so when I am old and infirm I can ride up. Would love to do this one again super views in several directions. Retraced went down the drainage following logging roads and came out to a power line. Lots of obstacles ended up working my way to 302 and back to the car. Nice hike, nice mountains. |
