|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable) |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
All frozen with easy ice bridges |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail is in great shape. The LT over the summit is a bit confusing. Couldn't find cairns to mark the way down to the alpine trail/LT junction (heading south from hut clearing) |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
An athletic pup should have no issues with the trail, just caution with the cold weather and ice building up in their paws |

| Comments: |
We barebooted from the winter parking area to the hut clearing just north of the summit. The trail is mostly packed snow and frozen, gravelly monorail. Even though there is ice throughout, it is not particularly slippery. Microspikes will suffice, and aren't fully necessary. Past the hut clearing on the LT going south we used spikes, though this was mainly anticipatory for the descent. Spikes definitely helpful heading back downhill, but you could get away with barebooting the whole way (though I wouldn't head into the mountains right now without spikes). Beautiful day up there under sunny skies, but brutally cold wind at the summit |
