Moderate hike until the shelter. Then a period of flat, gradual up with a lot of ice. We should have put on microspikes earlier...we were trying to tough it out for some reason. The last approach to the summit had a lot of very icy and steep boulders. All were doable with a little determination. Microspikes are a must. It was cold, but not windy on the summit. A few clouds blocking the view, so not quite 360 degrees as hoped, but close enough. Great and relatively short hike! 4 hours with a stop for lunch at the shelter. |
