At parking lot, follow old tower hill road straight ahead. At first junction stay left, following stream on left. Continue to old abandoned cabin, and the woods road bed continues on climbing behind and to the right of the cabin. Continue following the road bed, keeping the stream to your right until you cross over and continue with a steam now on your left. The trail continues to follow old road traversing the side of Dorset. Stay to the right at intersections and you eventually summit the tower peak. Head back down the trail to first intersection on right and trail will take you to the true summit. Look for signs but expect some difficulty because of the snow. There was a sign on a tree but as I recall there are open woods and hopefully previous hikers didn’t wander around too much. If you’ve got the way point on your GPS you shouldn’t have a problem. My track says that it was about 6.8 miles for both Dorset and Dorset South peaks and total time was a little over 5 hours. |
