| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We parked right after the houses ended over on right hand side of the ATV road. But you definitely can try to go in further if you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle. But the walk was not far at all. felt safer where I parked. |

Super pretty area and drive in to this trail head. Amazing houses. The trail to the summit was pretty easy to follow. As other trip reports I have read, follow the ATV trail till you come to a washout in the road. You want to cross here on left to start the herd path up. There was a small red flag here in tree when we hiked it. then you just follow the ATV trail straight up. You pretty much follow a brook the whole way. I saw a few cairns along the way. I think there were a few forks. Stay right on them all. We missed the old abandoned shelter on way up because the brush has grown so high. We did see it on the way down. Eventually you will come to another intersection at top flat ground. Take another right. Note small cairn here. IT was toppled over but I put it back together. Trail grade gets a little easier until you come to another intersection. Head right again. UP and up. Keep going straight all the way until you reach doorknob junction. Left will take you to the North Peak which we needed for the NEHH. Right will take you to the south peak. When you take the left, keep going and follow the trail. You will eventually come up to another signage. Kind of confusing here. head right or what might look like straight. all the way to the summit. We fixed the summit sign as we read earlier it needed to be fixed so we brought a screw driver and two long screws. Sign is easy to spot now and stable. We headed back to doorknob junction and headed for the south peak and was surprised to see it had a small view area! Remains of an old fire tower still stand and a grill that has started to fall apart. #92/100 |
