Eden Crossing Trailhead is not well marked and there is no AT/hiker crossing signs on Rte 118. Plenty of room if you can find it, hint it is on north side of rte 118. Lots of room on top of Jay Pass. |

While we were gearing up a gal jumped out of her car looked around and then took off up the trail, no pack and wearing blue jeans? When we got to the Belvidere summit spur the jean clad gal was dancing back down the trail. We loved the fire tower it is TALL and we had excellent views. We met a few Sobo people soon.
I made some short bushwhacks South Tillotson I got scratched up and the register jar had a lot of water in it and I had nothing to help it out; Whack to summit of Tillotson Peak was in mostly open woods, Haystack just look for the highest ground. Descending to Haystack Notch made our knees wish we didn't have nearly 7 more miles to go. We chugged along and Chef's lookout just past Buchanan was cool on top of that big boulder. The sky opened up and it rained and thundered crazy hard with about a 1.5 miles to reach Jay Pass so I gave up any ideas about whacking to Gilpin. We got soaked and we were glad we stayed on our feet. Just under 10 hours it felt like a lot longer after the previous day's haul. |
