Comments
Comments: Part 2 of my VT trip; stayed in crampons the whole way. Chilly morning with well packed and stable trail on the way up to the Battell Shelter, handful of ski tracks intersecting with the trail ~1/4mi from shelter. Plenty of spots where you need to duck/crouch on the Long Trail to the summit, sections of the trail had 1-2" powder drifts though it stayed well defined. Handful of ice caps protruding in the last 1/4mi but are easy enough to scoot around. Clear skies, minimal traces of winds, beautiful summit conditions- views of the 'Daks and White's.
On the way down the trail began softening up ~1mi from the shelter; couple sections my heels dug in 2-3". Crossed paths with two on their way up in yaktrax who didn't seem to have any issues.
