South Link is very wet, as is the bottom 1/3 of the Long Trail towards 108. Some big blow down towards the bottom of Long Trail near 108. |

My husky enjoyed it all; we too the Forehead Bypass and came up from the W to avoid the ladder, but there are some daunting climbs on Wampahoofus and some sketchy drops at the top of the LT as you leave the Chin. |

Haselton Trail, South Link, Forehead Bypass, Long Trail to Butler Lodge, Wampahoofus to Nose, Ridge to Chin, Long Trail to 108
Haselton is tricky to follow w/ the fresh inch of powder and the snow guns next door blowing drifts across the open parts. Much of if is running water over bare rocks w/ a bit of ice and powder. Still only an inch or two on the sections of ski trails near the top of Haselton. South Link is a couple of inches of powder w/ icy patches and puddles; put on microspikes at the start of South Link, and needed them on the granite descents w/ thin ice. The ridge has minor drifts and a dusting to inch of cover, but the ropes and blazes marking the trail are almost hidden, so hard to follow at times. There's still not enough snow to really pack down, so the descent off the Chin on the LT is treacherous w/ fresh snow hiding ice and uneven trail below. Further down, the LT is a mess of soggy leaves w/ standing water and mud. |
