Parking/Access Road Notes: Room for several cars in a paved pulloff along VT 114 in Norton, about 5 or so miles from the US/CA border.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The two major crossings were rock hopped.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The beginning and end sections are in good shape, but the middle part, which passes through old logging slash, is wet, rough, and heavily overgrown. That said, the trail through here (as well as the whole trail itself) is blazed very well, so it's not that hard to follow if you have a good trail eye. I wouldn't recommend this one for inexperienced hikers, though.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Due to the thick overgrowth, use caution and good judgment if bringing a dog here. I did see one with owner near the trailhead, but I don't know how far the dog made it.
Bugs
Bugs: None due to cooler-than-average temps (it was so cool out that I could see my breath).

Comments
Comments: Not the most pleasant trail to hike, not gonna lie, but I managed to knock off #30 on the New England 50 Finest. The beginning and end are straightforward, but the middle part does take a bit of care to follow. Keep an eye out for white paint blazes or blue/pink ribbons to find your way, because at some points, the blazes are the only indication of a trail. The summit is open but viewless, and the old fire warden's cabin is in mediocre shape (but would be decent to sleep in with some spring cleaning).

An annoying-at-times but challenging and neat hike well done. 30 down, 20 to go!
