Comments
Comments: Took the Long Trail from rt 242, heading north. It took a while to get the layers right as the temps were in the mid teens, but a strong cold wind was blowing. Overcast skies with light snow flurries. The LT was well marked and easy to follow. The trail had about 2-3 foot base which was compacted, but had between 12-15" of powder with deeper drifts. Once the LT crossed the ski trail, there was some ice and very wind blown hard snow to the summit. Dropped off the summit to the ski trail to Big Jay. The trail was well packed with only an inch or so of powder, and occasional blown in deeper drifts. No views today, but the descent back down the LT was awesome in the light deep powder.
