Comments
Comments: the jeep road had little to no snow to start then some ice at about .5 where you get to the first major washout. some more bare ground with just a dusting of snow around the cabin then depths increased until there was full coverage about halfway to the notch. some patchy ice underneath require a bit of care. others have been hiking around the long washout rather than through it and i did the same. a rough and hard packed track continued all the way to the summit via the typical route. once on the ridge there are some signs and there is still a summit sign and canister at the highpoint. i barebooted about halfway up then switched to microspikes to the summit and much of the way down to better deal with the hidden ice. snowshoes could be worn up high and i carried them, but the track was so hard they weren't necessary.
late start after a long drive, but some nice hiking with good temps and blue skies. was surprised by just how little snow there was up there. i guess that is about to change....
