Water Crossings:Routes involving Castle Ravine Trail, Castle Trail, and Six Husbands Trails may be difficult after rain or spring runoff.
Winter Access Notes:Due to the seasonal closure of Jefferson Notch Road, as well as the danger posed by the nearby ravines, Mt. Jefferson is often climbed by the Jewell and Gulfside trails in winter.
Road Access Notes:Jefferson Notch Road generally closes in November or December and reopens in May or June. The USFS Ammonoosuc/Jewell parking area closes in the winter, however there is often plowed parking available at the lower Cog parking lots. WMNF Road Status
