One of the nicest lots in NH! Clean Portable toilet (with paper!). Thanks so much to the WODC and to the kind neighbors for allowing access! |

Crossings were fine. At the end of a very long day, the big birch tree was a welcome sight and made for an easy crossing. |

Towards end of Dicey (or beginning, if you ascended that way) there is a downed tree. Other than that, not too many blow downs - and all manageable. |

A small group was turning around because the ledges completely unnerved their midsize dog. Some other people I know had no problem with theirs. Know your dog's fears and abilities before going on this. Also, provide water for the higher elevations. |

I overestimated my abilities on this one, should have done them separately. Blueberry ledge was great at first, perfect fall day with spectacular foliage. Nice variety of gentle, moderate, and steep terrain. And then came the ledges! I am just under 4'11' and could not do the first set without help. I also used my backpack as a stepping stone! Saw a little snow above the ledges and had about 90 seconds of flurries. Wonderful views from the ledges!
Long haul over to Passaconoway. Enjoyable, but with a later start than we had intended I knew we would be coming out with lights on. We split up near the loop, Prema took the easier way up and I went up the longer, steeper part (Lesson: Sticking together means don't even get 5 min apart!). More snow here. We met at the summit (43- WF and 44 P)
Dicey was nice, I wish we had arrived at the trailhead a couple hours earlier that morning so that we could have seen more of the Dicey Mill Trail! But if you're going to be descending in the dark, this is not a bad place to do it. Again, thanks to the Ferncroft neighbors for access. |
