Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: No vehicles along the Kanc at Pine Bend Brook when I arrived, and none at Oliverian Brook when I locked the bike up. Two guys I met between the Sleepers were parked at Pine Bend Brook, though they went down Downes Brook and beat me out (probably handily). 4 cars at Oliverian Brook in the afternoon.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Standing/Running Water on Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings hoppable, though some stones are an inch or two under water. At the end of the day coming down Pine Bend Brook, I didn't particularly care about getting my boots wet.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All sorts of blowdowns along this loop, too numerous to detail, with all but one being easily stepped over/gone under. One major tree down on Kate Sleeper Trail blocking the trail, with a herd path forming around it. Several relocations along Kate Sleeper Trail, made for some interesting trail finding between Rollins Trail and East Sleeper. Several sections of wet, muddy trail on Passaconaway Cut-off and lower Pine Bend Brook. Major flooding on Oliverian Brook due to beaver activity, pretty difficult to get through as you basically have to walk along the edge of their dam.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one all day, on Kate Sleeper Trail, looked to be having tons of fun on the soft trails.
Bugs
Bugs: Prevalent throughout the day, walked through a couple giant swarms of black flies on Rollins Trail. Ate and inhaled more bugs than I care to imagine.

Comments
Comments: Beautiful day for this loop. Spotted my car at Pine Bend Brook, and biked down the Kanc to Oliverian Brook. Started up Oliverian Brook at 7:30, and made decent time to Passaconaway, arriving at 10:20.

After descending Dicey's Mill to Rollins, I had to psych myself up for what was to come. The ascent along Rollins to Whiteface was pretty brutal, and I hit the wall several times. I even considered bailing down Downes Brook while I was still on Rollins, but after arriving on Whiteface at noon and taking a break, I figured I'd sally forth and make good on the loop. The Kate Sleeper Trail from Rollins to East Sleeper was nice, though several relocations made for interesting trail finding at a couple points. Took at short bushwhack to the high point on West Sleeper, returned to the trail and cruised over to the South Slide and arrived on South Tripyramid at 2:20.

After taking a short break, I made my way across the remaining Tripyramid peaks arriving at 2:45 and 3:15 respectively. Descending Pine Bend Brook was interesting to say the least. Some gnarly steep sections up top, interspersed with some smooth level sections, then descending roughly to the brook sapped what remaining energy I had. Once on the flats outside the wilderness boundary, I picked up the pace a bit, popping out on the Kanc and jumping in the car exactly at 5. Brilliant sunshine, decent temps, and light breezes made this a most enjoyable day.
