Only 1 crossing now, above Cloudland. Easy crossing today but the terrain shows that with heavy rains it has the potential to be much wider and deeper |

New section is great! A couple of leaners higher up 8n the dwitchback dection that xould be real headbangers if you don't see them coming |

The new Falling Waters re-route is open. The old trail access is brushed in and fencing is in place. You cannot get to the lower falls/cascades. The surface is quite nice and it is pretty wide. The Cloudland Spur is about 1.1 mi from the TH. Blazes are yellow on the spur. In and out from that intersection is about .7 mi. A short segment is new construction then it picks up the old trail to the base of the falls. You cannot climb out from here - return to the intersection. The re-route joins the old trail a short distance below the only remaining water crossing. Nothing much else to report, other than the re-route (not including the Cloudland Spur adds zbout .3 mi to the distance to Shining Rock side path. Total loop distance is now about 9.1 mi, but I have not done the full loop so this number may be a bit off. As of this writing the new track was not on All-Trails. My track on GAIA is public. E-mail me if you want a link. There is a map posted on the kiosk but it does not show the spur trail or give distance details.
