Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Generally good shape. However, very discouraging to see where hikers are going through the fragile alpine terrain to avoid the rocks on the well constructed Gulfside trail as it descends to the hut. Some braiding of user trails around the steep rocky section of Airline about half way down. A couple blowdowns on Airline between Randolph Path and Shortline.

Comments
Comments: Yet another gorgeous day to be out in the Whites. Colors are improving daily. Chemin des Dames was actually quite a fun scramble. Well marked with cairns and blazes. Great views every time I stopped to catch my breath (which was often). Knee pads might actually come in handy as there are a number of places I was on all fours. JQ Adams was an easy rock walk from Airline; went up when I was perpendicular to summit as I ascended Airline. I believe the summit is the sharper peak with the small metal marker, but there is also a herd path to another nearby point nearly as high. Fairly strong northeast winds, but most of this approach was fairly protected except for summits and Gateway area.
