Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Big lot, nicely maintained. Limited parking on roadside. Watch for no parking signs.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None. There are some bog boards and small bridge over a small dried up stream.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Only one small blowdown. Not every trail has a sign, but it's easy to figure out where you are. Nice informative kiosk. But one suggestion, maybe post a map showing the secondary trails and their names. Thanks.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dog paradise. A nice small pond between the two peaks that many took advantage of. Good dogs, good owners. A little Frenchie was not that canine social. His people found a comfortable place for both him and themselves to enjoy the views. And all those dogs? Not one trailside dog poop bag! Way to go, dog people.
Bugs
Bugs: Entertaining. The waning days of summer bring out those flying grasshoppers.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I don't know the proper name for it, but there is one of those dog remote control gadgets at the kiosk.

Comments
Comments: Needed to be back in the evening, needed some elevation. This was perfect. A little over an hour ftom the Great City of Lawrence. Had been here a few years ago, when the rain arrived a few hours ahead of schedule. This time, we would have views. Parked at the big lot on First Crown Point Road. Be aware that there is crown Point Road, and a Second Crown Point Road. You want First.

Ascended cow to the fire tower, which is open on Sat/Sunday. Ranger is great, demonstrated how they use old tech to identify exact placement of fires. New tech to communicate with the other towers and firefighters. The views on this peak are from the tower, trees are too tall for gtound level views. Descended the Pond Trail, it flattens out near the pond and connects with Little Blue Job trail.

Little Blue Job has extensive views and is very spread out (Moosilauke-esque). Plenty of places to sit and enjoy. We took a short portion of the Perimeter Trail down. There was a atea that still had ripe blueberries. It rejoined the Little Blue Job trail back to the lot.

Nice mix of everything. Scenic ledges, a nice climb to the fire tower, gentle footbeds through the woods. Many thanks to the town of Farmington, landowners and their easements, and the ranger.
