Had thought about doing Layafette but with the forecast I did not feel like being in the fog. So headed north and the Wildcats and Carters were clear as fog was blowing in over the Rock Pile so Karen chose the Wildcats. Surprise Surprise the ski area is still open and conditions are great for hiking and skiing. We had to make sure to stay way to the side of the Polecat as the trails are narrow.
On the ridge there was 2-3 inches on new snow that covered alot of ice. Spikes were adaquate but there were some tricky sections on the descents from D and C. Great views of Tuckermans all day as the clouds stayed on the cone. Adams and Madison were in and out of the clouds. All n All a Fine Day! |
