cannon ball north east peak. hiked 3 11 12
beautiful day, slight breeze, great visibility. from lafayette campground, took lonesome lake trail to kinsman ridge trail, then to cannon ball north east peak. same route on return. trail to lonesome lake was well packed and only slight traction needed. from lonesome lake to ridge, the was a few post holes in the trail so we switched over to snowshoes. as we neared the ridge, the snow shoes were necessary and definitley needed on the ridge trail. snow depth on ridge is 24 to 36 inches. warming temps will insure postholling without some type of flotation. barbara, nice to meet you, wish you could of joined us for lunch. hope you had a safe return trip.
