Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of parking, parking lot just paved so really nice. Make sure to not block the private parking area, there is a private residence across the river so be respectful, don't trap them in.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Saco river has a beautiful bridge. Only two other crossings, one was completely dry and the other had very low water so no problems here.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: 2 LARGE blowdowns on Davis Path between Crawford and Stairs. I let a USFS forest ranger know about the blowdowns, and there was one person with a handsaw tackling the larger one by the time I was descending. Trail is a little narrow in parts, but the trail maintainer had also done a little trimming so I expect these issues to be taken care of soon.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: A few mosquitos and flies, but no bites and no issues - don't bother with the bug repellent, don't need it
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: Crossed two more peaks off my 52 WAV list, and both spur trails off for my White Mountain redline. Absolutely gorgeous day to hike. Beautiful views at the summit of both mountains. Crawford was not too bad to climb up, Stairs had a couple of steep pitches between Stairs Col jct. and the spur to summit. Descending, the steep patches on Stairs were doable, but Crawford felt like it dragged on. Much of the climb on Crawford follows a moderate grade on hard scrabble and loose rocks, which makes it not so bad to ascend, but painstaking to descend. There were a couple of very minor patches of mud and water, but overall, one of the driest trails I've been on in a long time. The ridgeline is very pretty, and very quiet, clearly a path less travelled.
