Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Only minor crossings. No problems to cross.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail is in good condition. There were tree falls high above the trail surface that were easy to walk under. Between the peaks, there were two small trees across the trail that were easy to step over even though one had limb stubs sticking out.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fine for dogs. I suppose some dogs may not like the chimney between the peaks.
Bugs: None
Lost and Found

Comments: Most of the trail surfaces were dry. There were some small mud spots on the trail that often had mud-covered steppingstones or small limbs to keep footwear relatively dry. The best way to get by the steeply sloped ledges up high is to skirt them at the base of the rock surface. There are lots of rocks on this heavily trod trail. Most hikers including myself, used the chimney by-pass on descent and the chimney on ascent.
Nice views from the ledges on Mt Osceola and from a small rock ledge on the west side of East Osceola to the side of the Mt Osceola Trail. The north viewpoint at the end of a small spur trail just before arriving at the Mt Osceola ledges was becoming grown in by fir growth. Adults can still see the Franconia Range, Garfield, etc. but small kids will be shutout unless held up.
Many hikers out today including two kids summiting their first 4,000 foot peaks including 7 year old Ollie with his grandparents Jeff & Nancy. Had a nice conversation with a couple from Allston/Brighton to finish the hike.
