Comments
Comments: Decided to take the western approach from the Warren side today based on potential issues with a water crossing via the Three Ponds route and a late start. Snow fragments started at 2600’. Barebooted the entire way, as snow was surprisingly supportive, despite the warm temps. A very light snowshoe/boot track of 1, possibly 2 previous hikers started at around 2900’ all the way to just before the summit. As temps warm up, snowshoes are likely a good bet unless you like postholing to your knees. Moosilauke summit was in the clouds unfortunately, but the Carr summit and it’s concrete remnants of an old fire tower, was free of snow, and was nice spot to take a break.
