Comments
Comments: Such a mixed bag of conditions - traction (spikes) came on and off on the climb up Jewell; I finally settled on snowshoes for a long snowy (softening) section just below the end of treeline. From there, I wore my rock spikes up and across to the summit, but bare booted the way back. The snowy sections weren't long enough to justify further ruining the spikes. There is a monorail developing in spots, but I expect with more of this warm weather the whole trail will be down to the bone soon.
