Comments
Comments: Ski area is closed for the season, however there is still top to bottom snowpack on the ski trails. Heavy snowcat traffic on a few, so those may be a bit rough for skiing. Bare spots starting to emerge, but the high elevation natural trails are still holding snow.

The lower Mt. Tecumseh Trail looks to be free of snow.

I hate carrying snowshoes, so I opted to take the ski trails to that I could wear snowshoes the whole way to the summit and back. I popped in at the viewpoint and found snowpack all the way to the top. Snowpack varies from about 2 to 4 feet.

Snowshoes ARE needed and should be generally carried for the next few weeks because the snow is deep and it can get soft very quickly. If you're sick of snowshoes, there are some nicely thawed trails down south. Three (insert pejorative here) people decided they didn't need snowshoes today. They made it up okay, but postholed the heck out of the descent - one on the Mt. Tecumseh Trail proper (dozens of fresh postholes) and two on the Sosman Trail (hundreds of postholes). The Sosman Trail is a mess a result of their selfishness.

Beautiful afternoon weather with partly sunny skies and temperatures in the 50s.
