Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I left a set of black REI mitts right near the trailhead on the snowbank as I was taking off my snowshoes. Would be thrilled to have them back. Email me if found ejhansen at gmail

Comments
Comments: A bit of everything today with rain, mist, a brief speck of sunlight, but otherwise totally socked in above 2000'. I put on snowshoes almost immediately and kept them on the whole way. There are sections on the initial flats and through Bunnell Notch that are open and muddy/wet, but snow cover here, mushy as it was, was still >95%. Once on Kilkenny Tr proper the snowpack is consistent and firmer through the higher elevations and summit plateau. Relatively few postholes but there are a few whoppers on Bunnell Notch especially around the wet and soggy drainage areas. Waterproof boots, high gaiters and snowshoes all highly recommended for the time being. It'll get (much) worse before it gets better.
