Comments
Comments: The Shelburne Trail begins as an extension of FR95 which had icy and muddy sections but overall the hiking was easy. Watch carefully for the Shelburne Trail turnoff of FR95 uphill from a large logging yard area. The turn is currently marked by a 1.5 foot high pile of rocks along with a makeshift sign using a Rosignol ski as the post (about 2 to 3 foot high). A red surveyor's tape is also on a tree up the trail. Once the snow falls these markings will disappear.

Both trails had very few blazes but the trailway was evident. Another hiker passed through the Shelburne Trail on to Wild River in the recent past. The Kenduskeag Trail had no signs of usage of late. There were short sections on both trails which had ice flowage which can be circumvented. Snowshoes are not needed but light traction recommended in the icy areas. I saw no other hikers today.
