Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at the Overlook west of the HOL on Rt. 118. Lot not plowed, and I shoveled the snow berm so that my low car could get in and out. Cars with greater clearance didn't have issues.

Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Cooper and Piper had a blast. Nice open woods, gradual ascent, makes for easy travel for them. However, the spring snow was balling in their fur, especially Coop's.

Comments
Comments: We walked up the road (about 0.1mi) to approximately the HOL, and climbed over the much larger snow berm to enter the woods. Started bushwhacking towards the western ridge. Woods were open hard woods with occasional spruce. There may be hobble bush, but they were buried under snow. Not sure of the total snow depth, but we were sinking about 2-4" onto a fairly firm base, with occasional higher drifts. Snow was sticking to our snowshoes, but it didn't hinder our progress. Once on the west ridge, we followed it all the way to the summit. Forest transitions from hard to soft woods, but remains mostly open. As noted in other reports, on approach to the summit the spruce become smaller and tighter together, but weaving through them was pretty easy. We may have been following several herd paths. Canister was located on a spruce, but was only at thigh level due to the snow pack. Entries dating back to 1993. We followed out snowshoe tracks back to Rt 118 and cars (advantage of winter hiking). Nice shorter hike in snowy woods.
