Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of space in the lot. Please remember to only park in the designated areas to keep the neighbors happy so we can keep parking and hiking here for years to come! (Parking lot also has a nice porta potty which, in my experience, is always quite clean.)
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Ice - Black, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The one large crossing was too high for any chance of rock-hopping, so I used the tree laying across the water. Was quite stable and even has some lines cut into it for better traction.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail up to the summit of Passaconaway was partially a stream, but this has been a drainage issue for years.

Comments
Comments: Went up Blueberry Ledge and down Dicey’s Mill. Going up was pretty dry for several miles until some ice started to appear. There was ice on the open faces at lower elevations. The ledges themselves were a mixed bag. Some nice dry parts, and then some other definitively icy parts. Some pretty thick ice flows after the actual ledges made things more challenging. Not impossible, but definitely got a bit of an adrenaline rush at some points.

Section going over to Passaconaway was icy at first. Switched from rock spikes to brand new spikes (should have done this earlier) and wow did it make a difference. I definitely need to sharpen my old ones. Closer to the split to Passaconaway (lower elevation), things became more bony.

Going up to Passaconaway was partly bony, partly walking on rocks in a stream, and partly ice. (More of that spikes on, spikes off business) Saw not one, but four people with no spikes whatsoever near Passaconaway. Extremely concerning but also somewhat impressive?

TLDR: Bring your sharp spikes, but be prepared to take them on and off a bunch, or bring 2 pairs of spikes if you have them. Only go up the ledges if you want to slightly question your life choices a few times or if you want to feel ~alive~.
