| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Designated lot is off Tripoli Rd and is dirt surfaced with a kiosk and stocked privies. This was completely full upon our arrival at 7am. We were able to park roadside on Tripoli Rd without impeding traffic. Tripoli rd is dirt surfaced, well maintained outside of winter months. Any vehicle would be fine. |

Trail maintainers out today!! Thanks so much! |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
The chimney is impassable for dogs. The alternate is fine for them, though small dogs will need help. Several dogs out today, some leashed, some not. It doesn’t matter as long as the dog is well behaved (all that we met were). |

| Bugs: |
Black flies forced us to don head nets. They were swarming in lower elevations. |

| Comments: |
Mt Osceola trail is not blazed save a few yellow blazes in the upper elevations between Mt Osceola summit and the descent towards East Peak. The chimney is marked with yellow arrows to indicate the turn and has yellow blazes on the chimney itself. The alternate is not blazed. Rough, rough footing for the entirety of the trail. Mud in segments just prior to the summit of Mt Osceola. East Peak has a large carin to mark the summit.
Large crowds out today, but everyone, and I mean everyone, was kind and respectful of fellow hikers. I love these kinds of people.
Super awesome to run into one of the “lady hiking machines” I met twice while with my son on our Kilkenny Traverse back in May. Go get it, woman! Go get it! |
