Today was very hot for this hike regardless, we took it on! The trail starts out with some almost dry mud on the logging road and turns into this lush walk through the wooded forest. The trails were smooth as butter and easy on our very warm feet. The hike up and down Oak Ridge was a great warm up for the steeper Mt Parker Tr to a gorgeous summit facing Mt Washington only 10 miles away. We were smelling smoke and seeing ashes fly on the trail from a fire off in Crawford Notch. The smoke was more and more visible as we neared the summit. We made good time today in spite of the heat. And just barely made it out before the thunderstorms struck! |
