Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: At the point the Castle Trail actually crosses the Israel River, you are going to get your feet wet. It was the end of the day and the car was right there so I was happy to cool the feet off in some shin high water, Neal went downstream a bit and was able to cross with dry boots.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Castle Trail is a disaster. The wind storm from last week absolutely tore ish up. Blowdowns up high, blowdowns down low. There are some big ones too. It's going to take some work to clean up.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see any today, barely saw any humans either.
Bugs
Bugs: Neal said I had a mosquito biting me, I have yet to find evidence of this unprovoked attack.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a snow basket, my collection is getting impressive.

Comments
Comments: Not all days are created equal, and today was an absolute dime in the Northern Presi's. We barebooted most of Airline, spikes went on for one short icy section a little below treeline. After that my spikes didn't go on again until the Jefferson snowfield. Gulfside across was wet in places, with still a decent amount of spring snow in a few areas (with the lovely sound of water running underneath it). Few postholes here and there but nothing to whine about. The snowfield has a nice track across it, footing was solid, still gets the blood pumping. Coming down Castle was an adventure. Icy in spots. And then the trees...everywhere. We were here last month and it looked like a completely different trail.
