Comments: Long hard day of postholing. If you're hiking the southern half of the KRT bring SNOWSHOES!

The route was Bunnell Notch from the Unknown Pond Trailhead to KRT, KRT to Waumbek, KRT back to York Pond Trail then back to trailhead.

The section of KRT from Bunnell Notch to Terrace had pockets of deep snow and snowshoes were useful. Towards the summit of Terrace, the snow was solid enough for good footing and I chose to nix the snowshoes and go bare boot. The snow stayed solid up and over Weeks. Here’s where I made a big mistake. I dumped the snowshoes trailside and continued. Middle Weeks was deep snow and the suffer fest started and lasted all the way to Waumbek. Relentless postholes in crusty corn snow that bruised shins and shredded skin made for slow going. The ridgeline from South Weeks to Waumbek was the most challenging. Weak blazes, blowdowns and the lack of traffic made the KRT hard to follow too
