Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Pack Monadnock, NH
Trails
Trails: Marian Davis Trail, Wapack Trail, Summit Loop
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, May 8, 2022
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: This is a state park with a large parking lot. $4.00 per adults (non-resident). You get a lot for your four bucks - outhouses in the parking lot (and a nice one on the summit!), picnic tables, good parking (on the summit, too), and the ranger station where you pay has a bucket for doggy bags. No need to leave on the side of the trail!
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Tiny easy ones.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Good signage, a couple easy to step over blow downs, blazes on Wapack look fresh. The more exposed Marion Davis Trail has a few that are somewhat faded. Thanks!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: This park allows leashed dogs. Many well-behaved ones today. Carry extra water for them, as the water up top hasn't been turned on yet for the season.
Bugs
Bugs: A few non-biting black flies.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Two socks - one infant and one child. Left them at the kiosk.

Comments
Comments: Good choice when you don't have a lot of time or don't want to travel too far (about an hour from Lawrence). Went CCW - up Marion, down Wapack. If you prefer not to descend a few steep sections you should do CW. A few spring flowers were blooming. Wapack has more evergreens, so it takes longer for things to dry out - so all the comments about mud, water, etc are mostly for Wapack. Summit bathrooms open and were great. You can climb the fire tower part way up. Too windy to stay long on the fire tower.

There is a trail that is called Summit Loop on their map, but the trail sign called it Red Dot. It's a nice trip around the woods near the top.

Nice day. Hope to come back and do the Wapack section that connects this with North Pack Monadnock,
