Comments
Comments: What a mix of conditions today! Dirt to the Zeta Pass FPA, then ice. Ice and unstable monorail to Carter Dome. Caution is required to avoid sliding off the icy trail and into the woods. Came back down to Zeta Pass with full crampons, but Trail Crampons would have sufficed. From Zeta Pass to South Carter is a mix of bare ground and ice. From South Carter to Middle is unstable monorail and a massive number of postholes. I'm glad I started early and the snow was still pretty cold today. Wore spikes down North Carter Trail and switched to bare boots below the Imp junction although the trail is intermittent dirt and rotten snow.
