Comments
Comments: So....the plan was to go up the ledges, but slick conditions but low level clouds turning into higher level clouds ruled the day. Changed tack and went up Slippery Brook after completing Chandler Gorge Loop. Slippery Brook is not really slippery and although wet, was almost as pleasant as I remembered it on a dry day in late May of last year. Baldface Knob - one of my favorite short trails - was generally smooth sailing, with mostly dry ledges. To add on to Keith E's trail report, it's a bit tedious going down North Baldface. Too soft for spikes, but plenty of spring snow and soft ice. Needless to say, the pace slowed considerably through this part. Plenty of trees for support if needed, although I took a bit of a ride at one point. Zero vis at Eagle Crag, but that was fine -- being in the clouds is just as nice. Meader Ridge was snow and water for about the first mile or so, and postholed on the way to the spur and ended up submerging my foot in the melt underneath. Some bog bridges are under the snow, so something to look out for if you hit Meader Ridge this week. The spur offered the first views of the day and Mt. Meader Trail was lovely as usual; some wet leaves, which is not unexpected. Skipped Brickett Falls since I walked that spur in November of 2020.

All and all, a good day, but if you don't like my description above, plus a handful of wet ledges I did not describe, wait a bit. The snow in the saddles isn't going away tomorrow.
