Comments
Comments: Excellent April conditions. Mud not as bad as expected and its in the usual places on LW, departing Black Pond Trail; and more so on Lincoln Brook Trail. No ice til about a third mile in on Lincoln Brook Trail and majority of that could be avoided. I waited til crossing before Brutus to put on Hillsound Trail Crampons kept on til halfway back to BP Herd Path.Lower half Brutus dry then about midway sparse snow gradually thickening but packed and not icy. Owls Head Path nice packed snow no postholing or balling up of spikes on the return. Many thanks to those who have cleared blowdowns before the summit. Summit cairn visible today. Had some unexpected company on hike makingthe journey interesting, thanks.Saw total of 6 other hikers doing OwlsHead.
