Comments
Comments: First time on this great trail with multiple great vantage points. I forgot how challenging Monadnock can be despite its short length - shimmying through slots and descending steep sections near the cone guaranteed to tweak the knees. Surprisingly minimal mud except for a few patches on the early logging road part of the trail, and snow free except for two tiny snow patches tucked under some summit rocks. Even as thick cottony clouds rolled in at the top we got fabulous views of Mt. Wash, Lafayette, the Tri's, Killington, Ascutney, Greylock and more, plus the necklace of ponds beneath. Probably 40-50 fellow hikers on the trail today. Glad to be one of them.
