Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Several large step over blowdowns on the climb down from the last set of ledges to the parking lot. There is triple softwood blowdown across the trail just below the ledge past the ice formation that remains late in the season. I cut it to make it less bad but it needs more attention from someone with a bigger saw. I cut out one large beech crown that blocked the trail but I did not have any swampers so its just piled on either side of the trail. There i one small step over that I started to cut but it caught my blade. Someone with rigging could get the tension off of it. Lower down is double red oak blowdown blocking the trail. Its not pleasant to climb over. It would require a bigger saw and rigging to make sure it does not bind (most likely needs to be cut from the bottom of the logs. Its green red oak. There are several other dead step overs and one widow maker, a beech that is snapped off about 8'high but the remainder of the tree is held at the break by gravity.

Comments
Comments: A recovery hike getting back in shape from an injury. Nice to have a snow free trail. I started late and only saw a couple of folks coming down from Welch down low.

The trail in spots is wet but I tromped through in my trail runners. A few interesting wet spots on the ledges.
