Comments
Comments: Stayed on A-Z trail for up and down. Report from hiker was that Avalon Trial very icy. We put Hillsound microspikes on at junction for Avalon trail. Had a good bite into icy spots. Narrow monorail and post holing evidence before 4th and final water crossing about .5 mile before Mt. Tom spur junction (we did not posthole all day). In same area, measured with hiking pole about 3.5 feet of snow just off the edge of the trail. A very inquisitive and unafraid Marten was at the junction for Mt. Tom spur. We cut our snack break short because it kept circling closer. It was oblivious to our attempts to have it back off. Some icy spots and mud on spur to Mt. Tom, nothing problematic. Granular snow covering the summit area.
