Comments: Thanks for yesterday's report!

I am adding today's conditions: the morning felt like a typical spring hike, with it raining from the trees under blue bird skies. By the time I descended again, the 'rain' had mostly stopped as all snow/ice had melted off the trees. Some of the rocks that had been fully covered with snow in the morning were now also approx. 50% exposed. Lots of melting on the trails today. One other hiker was on the trail--my trail angel (more about that in a moment). He used crampons to go over to East Peak and back. I used spikes to go to East Peak but switched to crampons for the return trip and that worked much better. We both took the bypass of the bypass at the chimney. Still icy on the chimney and the bypass.
I wore spikes up and down to Osceola main peak. Minor issues with snow balling under the spikes. Only for short moments when the warmth had turned the snow into just that condition. 5-10 steps later the issue had resolved. I came across three such 'patches' today.

The other hiker treated me to Oreo cookies--celebrating that this was my final month in which I needed the Osceolas for my grid. :) That was so nice! Furthermore, he provided a cold coke near the end of the hike. That hit the spot! I had run out of water at the summer parking lot and while I could have waited until I reached DD on my drive home to grab something cold to drink, having a cold coke by the time I got back to the car was wonderful. Thank you trail angel! I hope to see you again soon and be able to put a smile on your face with some treats. :)

By the time we had been on East Peak no one had come up from the Kanc.
