Comments
Comments: Started at Gunstock resort, up the dirt road to Rowe, and Ridge Trail to Gunstock. No snow/ice and dry trail to Rowe. One small spot of snow/ice on the upper half of Ridge Trail. Otherwise these trails were mostly dry (surprisingly to us). Lots of soft snow at Gunstock summit once we left the trees.

From Gunstock, we took Ridge Trail to Blue Trail to Belknap summit. We saw 15 people within 10 mins of leaving Gunstock summit, and saw no one else all day. There was some soft snow left on the trail in the final 10ish mins of the Blue Trail to Belknap summit, but it was soft and we easily bare booted.

We bushwhacked down to the plane crash off the Belknap summit. There was a lot of ice and snow on this steep bushwack. This is the only part of the day that I wished I had my microspikes with me. Nevertheless we made it down to plane and back up with no slips or falls (though we traveled very slowly and carefully).

From Belknap, we traveled back down Blue Trail and then took Overlook Trail back to the parking lot. This trail was very mild to moderate, 99% free of any snow. The one water crossing was easy to cross without getting wet. The overlook section was beautiful.

Overall this section of the Belknaps was drier than I was expecting. No need for microspikes here unless you’re going down to the plane crash. Several people were wearing their spikes but it seemed like overkill to me. Not much longer until the snow here is totally gone.
