Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I parked at the Spencer Smith trailhead. Mine was the first car and there were four additional cars when we returned. With careful parking, at least 7-8 cars could fit!

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I don’t think that there are really supposed to be water crossings but, you know, it’s April. There are lots of places for rock hopping across water!!
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: These trails are pristine. Thank you!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: My dog had a blast - easy footing, lots of squirrels, lots of mud. However, the road walk is not dog friendly - the road is narrow and so you can’t walk on the pavement, for safety. There’s a lot of glass beside the pavement. My dog was just fine for the 0.1 mile roadwalk for the loop hike but we didn’t do the rest of Mooers trail for the above reasons. No problem - we’ll hike this again from the southeastern trailhead! :)
Bugs
Bugs: Not yet!

Comments
Comments: We hiked the loop - up Spencer Smith, over the summit and out to the ledges with the view of Bow Lake, then back and down Link to Mooers where we took a left. At the road, we could see the car so we headed to it.
Spencer Smith had intermittent minor mud and very consistent red blazes. The initial view, on the steep bit, is pretty as a pciture, and theview of Bow Lake is from a wide and flat ledge that invites you to spend some time!. After that, we headed back and went down the Link which is a really nice foresty trail with lots of switchbacks to make just the right grade. It was not excessively muddy. Mooers between the bottom of the Link and 126 is really muddy and wet (yay Spring!) but there are lots of stepping stones so I walked on the trail but my feet stayed dry. (My dog splashed in the mud. A lot!!). Someone really spent a lot of time making these trails awesome - thank you!
At the true summit we had a nice, long chat with a local gentleman who lives within walking distance of the trailhead. He hikes this route frequently and had lots of great tidbits of information - including that the repeated gunfire is one homeowner having target practice, not anything concerning. It was nice to have a chat and despite seeing multiple cars on our return, he was the only other hiker that we saw, today.
I would highly recommend this hike!
