| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
(THURSDAY & FRIDAY, possibly the weekend) They are doing heavy tree clearing at Lafayette Place Campground and the winter lot is CLOSED. They are diverting traffic to the summer lot on the left when you drive in. However its still pretty much covered in snow. I was able to get in there with a low clearance AWD but I was scraping the snow on the bottom of my car. They said they where coming to come back later today and try to mash down the lot a little with the skidder - so take caution |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There is an axe worthy spruce tree about 100' up on Dodge Cut-Off from LL side. Hi-Cannon could greatly benefit from a haircut as it is incredibly car wash like. Also, there is like, three blazes on the entire Hi-C trail. Looks like someone tried to acid wash a bunch off along the way |

A FINE day was had in the forest - if sleet, freezing rain, snow, rain, and wind are something you enjoy. This might be why I had the trails all to myself. I started from the summer lot (see note above in regards to closure). Trails have light coverage down low. I put on spikes at Hi-Cannon and they remained on for the day as they made for the most efficient moving. No real issues on Hi-Cannon, there is some good blue ice but its got some slush on top so it offers some bite. The only time I really had to stop and think was in the area of the switchback along the ledges. A few good pitches of blue. Thankfully I had packed my trail loin cloth and did my best tarzan impression. Such a shame no one was there to witness. When I got up by the ridge line where it plateau's, the weather switched in minutes. Heavy wind, heavy sleet. I layered up and booked it to the tower. Once you plateau out before KRT, and the short section of KRT and Rim where like sidewalks compared to what I had come up. Did not bother going on the tower because I'd probably be flown to Easton. It sounded wild up there. No issues on the way out. Needed Dodge Cutoff for redline so I took that. Firm, aside from the col where you'd play post hole roulette in a wet area. LLT from lake back to hi-c started out wide, firm with slush and ebbed to narrower, less firm or otherwise bare, especially at the switchback |
