Ascended via Hi-Cannon Trail. Hi-Cannon is in great shape, snow was nicely packed and our microspikes stayed in our packs.
Decided to descend via Kinsman Ridge Trail instead, which is in much worse condition. Thick flows of ice are covering the entire steep section of the ridge trail—microspikes are a NECESSITY, and crampons are strongly recommended. There’s a few sketchy moves over icy ledges that would be very scary to attempt even in spikes. |
