we crossed walking across the log. we met a group where 1 person shimmied across and another put on trash bags and waded through the water. I dont have great balance and was fine walking across; it was not icey |

We barebooted for about half the way up, then switched to spikes. there was a light dusting of powder on top of monorail/patchy spots with leaves near the bottom. More snow/ice as you went up; not enough snow for snowshoes. Going down near the top there were a couple places where it would have been nice to have crampons, but we and everyone we saw were fine in spikes. a lot of ice near the top, spikes are essential. ice was melting and getting a bit soft/slippery on the way down, a lot of the snow @ the beginning of the trail had melted by the time we got back. Saw a few small groups; great day for a hike. |
